| Chiara Padrini Vacation & Suiseki September 17 – 23 A great combination for 2012 Instructor: Chiara Padrini The course is done with a minimum of 6 participants For several years I have organized a course to study and search for beautiful stones by visiting Italian Regions not only rich in material for our collections, but famous for the beauty of nature and the tradition of art , culture and … good food and hospitality. But in 2012 the course "Holiday and Suiseki" is connected with one of the most important international events, the Crespi Cup, which this year celebrates its tenth anniversary. The Crespi Cup will be held September 14 to 23, 2012 (1st weekend amateurs, 2nd weekend professionals) and includes competitions for Bonsai, Suiseki, Shohin, and Pots, with specimens from all over the world. During the last week end the headleaders will be:

This event alone is worth a trip, but for fans of stones I planned to connect this International Convention with my course of the school Suiseki & C. in its seventh year. We can spend many beautiful days of searching for stones both in Sicily and Liguria. Participants can attend the entire program or just part of the course in the region of their choice. During the Crespi Cup I will give a talk on Suiseki and my students are expected to practice by conducting an evaluation on exhibited stones in the show. Students enrolled in a course are encouraged to participate by exhibiting their own suiseki in the Crespi Suiseki Cup. PROGRAM Names and prices of hotels and services will be reported in March 2012, but the data are very reliable even if approximate. Friday, 14 September-Participants arrive in Sicily - Airports in Palermo Punta Raisi or - Catania Fontanarossa. There are two collection points depending on the site of arrival of the participants. Cost in Liguria euros 230p.p. Cost in Sicily 230 Euro p.p. The reimbursement of Instructor personal expenses should be added (transfers, Hotel,. Meals) It will be divided equally among all participants. The cost of hotels or farmhouses are to be considered EUR 50 / 80 pp. half board depending the place. The ferry from Palermo Genoa can be booked directly by participants according to the type of cabin they prefer on this site www.gnv.it. or by me on request. Participants must have their own car. Tickets for museums or particular sites. Insurance and personal expenses. WARNING In Italy this is still during the vacation time so you need to book well in advance for hotels and ferry. In particular, the hotel in Parabiago because there will be large attendence and economical venues will be exhausted quickly. Please send your registration by March 31, 2012. After that time I cannot guarantee exactly the same pricing. Registration should include 50% of the cost of the course booked or not taken into consideration. The course is done with a minimum of 6 participants. The accompanying persons are required to pay 50% of the cost of the course and share the instructor’s expenses with other participants. | Chiara Padrini Back from a wanderful trip in Vietnam where I had the opportunity to meet some suiseki lovers and collectors I had the permit by the author Mr Duc Tam a movie director who is also one of the main stone collectors in Vietnam to spread the knowlwwdge of Vietnamese Da Canh Nguyen Ban (suiseki art) through a DVD dolby sound he produced. In the movie many Vietnamese stones, exhibitions, Collectios with owners and searching stones in Vietnamese rivers I enjoyed a lot and I hope you can do the same If you are interested to have copies with please contact me
